    Thank you for this information. We lost our beloved nearly 10yr old working cocker spaniel to this cancer 3 days ago. He showed no signs of being unwell at all. He seemed fine, I have videos from his walk on Sunday and he was totally normal, even jumped in and out of the water trough a few times. The day that he passed, he was runing around the garden with my other dog. It was just a normal day, then I went outside to check our post box and when I came back in he was sitting very strangely, panting more than usual and couldn't walk properly. I rushed him to the vets but there was nothing that could be done for him. A mass within his liver had ruptured. It was less than an hour from finding him unwell to saying goodbye. My husband didn't get back from work in time to say goodbye. He was my husbands gundog, and he was absolutely amazing at it. He will never be able to be replaced and is missed and loved beyond any words could express. The house is so quiet, it's awful. RIP Archie 💔

    Thank you for this informative video. I had no idea what this was until a week ago. We adopted our 8.5 year old golden retriever mixes (boy/girl littermates) from the humane society in 2016. While we were on a week long vacation to Alaska our boy Hunter started getting sick. Our dog sitter was concerned he skipped his breakfast and had skipped another meal 2 days before. He was panting more and drooling some. His gums were white. She rushed him to the vet on a Saturday night where they did emergency surgery. He had. a large tumor on his spleen which ruptured. In surgery they found multiple tumors on his liver. He lost too much blood and never woke up from surgery. We are absolutely devastated, shocked and sad. And we feel guilty we missed warning signs and really that we werent here for him in the end. He was the sweetest most sensitive boy and we miss him. We are also very concerned his sister will have this issue. We had her to the vet this week for an ultrasound and blood tests. She is fine so far. She was always the tougher and healthier of the pair. But we all miss him. I will continue to follow you and your research. Thank you!

      I lost my 6 year old dog 2 days ago. She seemed fine one minute then the next she is breathing really labored, her mouth was all grey and I couldn’t get her to stand or walk. Rushed her to the hospital and they said she had these masses on her liver and spleen that ruptured. She was hemorrhaging and internally bleeding and they couldn’t save her. One minute I thought everything was normal and good, an hour later she was being put down. It’s been a miserable 2 days so far, she meant everything to me

    I appreciate your video! Thank you! l noticed my 15 year old dog who BARELY EVER DRANK WATER.. (Even in the summer heat in FL, 115* last summer) started drinking 20-30 ounces a day last week so I called the vet thinking it was possibly diabetes… she thought it was Cushings, but NOPE, “Addisons”, just diagnosed YESTERDAY!! My Lucy is my FIRST DOG, she belonged to my mother who passed away 6 years ago and she’s blind, and in liver failure, and takes 400mcg of Synthroid for thyroid. I get up at 0430 too give the Denemere at 5a, then Synthroid at 545… then she gets all her other meds. It’s a lot of work but, WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE I’VE BEEN BLESSED WITH LEARNING TO LOVE THIS AMAZING ANIMAL! 🫶🏼❤️ May GOD Bless ALL YOU FUR PARENTS OUT THERE! It took me 54 years to understand THIS LOVE ❤️ Take care y’all!

I’m having difficulty in the pathologist diagnosis of hemangiofibrosarcoma which almost doesn’t exist in any journal. Really helpful but I have still many questions due to the complexity and no present answers.

    I’m pretty sure my 12 year old goldendoodle has this and words can’t describe how heartbroken i am. she was so healthy people complimented her energy levels. then last night she wouldn’t eat, didn’t even want human food or her favorite dental treat. poor thing was just relaxing, she drank all her water last night then my mom gave her more this morning and she drank it all again. we had a vet appointment at 4pm and thank god nothing bad happened before then, they caught the pericardial effusion and drained it. tomorrow they scan her and confirm if the cause is a tumor. vet said there was some fluid near her spleen too so i’m almost certain this is what she has, it’s devastating. i just want more time with her… they’re monitoring her overnight and i cant wait to see her tomorrow. poor baby was in so much pain before they drained that blood but she’s feeling better now. i would give anything to save her

    My 10yr old girl Zoey, Aussie shepherd mix, had been acting normal and full of life! Just had a check up at the vet 2 months ago and was told she is doing well and healthy and strong. Yesterday morning she would t get up from the bathroom floor, wouldn’t drink water or eat. I looked at her gums and they were pale. Took her to the vet and they told me she likely had hemangiosarcoma as they saw a mass in her spleen and liver and her belly was full of fluid which they then confirmed was all blood. She couldn’t even lift her head. Had to not be selfish and euthanize her. Bestest girl I’ve ever had that was always by my side. I’m completely devastated and heartbroken. How fast do these tumors go from nothing to a tumor big enough to rupture and cause death? We miss you ZoBo! RIP! ❤

He was full of energy, loved his mile long walks multiple times a day, hikes, beach, etc. He started to slow down about a month ago and then the last few days he really slowed down and I felt a lump on his stomach. Took him in, had ultrasound scheduled for yesterday where we discovered he has this cancer. Today he is not doing well, tomorrow morning the in home euthanasia will be here to send him on his way. For my cat was neutered at a young age and started to have difficulties with bladder infections from that point forward. For which he had to get special food etc. The sarcoma was located between his thighs near his genitals. I know it is baseless and doesn't necessarily say anything, but I'm glad you are looking in to a possible connection between the spay/neutering and this disease. For my cat got persistent health problems around the genital area after neutering.

    I lost my golden retriever yesterday from an assumed hemangiosarcoma. We decided to let him go but in an effort to advance studies in this field, I wish they could have used him for scientific research, similar to how humans donate organs or tissue. With the odds against him, I believe we made the right decision. There will be a part of my heart that’s missing forever, but I’m hopeful that researchers will uncover solutions that can widely help other dogs with this diagnosis.

    • @MorrisAnimalFoundation
      @MorrisAnimalFoundation 4 місяці тому

      That is a common practice among veterinarians to protect the cat's life if an injection-site sarcoma develops. Injection-site sarcomas are considered to be a rare development, with reports indicating they occur at a rate of about 1 case per 10,000 to 30,000 vaccinations.

    • @Objective-Observer
      @Objective-Observer 4 місяці тому

      @@MorrisAnimalFoundation The point is: we've been lied to about Human Vaxxines, for 40 years. We truly don't know if they work, because there has never been a post vaxxine, in the field efficacy test. They truly don't know how many individuals did not develop immunity. Vaxxines carry a multitude of risks, so we should use them sparingly according to risks: our ability to cure/treat an infection, the debilitation of the disease and the risk of infection. To be truly safe: we need the Polio vaxxine and I still think we should do Small Pox, but they stopped that almost 20 years ago. We don't NEED all of these other vaxxines; they are all curable and treatable with 10 days to recover. The same is true of vetinary vaxxines: they should be based on the debliltation affects of a disease, and the risk of infection. Indoor pets, that never leave their home, don't need any vaxxine. Despite the fact that pet can catch bubonic plague from mice, I don't know of a plague vaxxine. Pets can catch hantavirus from mice, but they probably won't have any symptoms. There is no vaxxine for hantavirus for humans, let alone pets. Pets can catch lyme disease, but it isn't as destructive in pets, as it is humans. There is no vaxxine for lyme disease for humans, and I don't know about pets. The point is: the most likely diseases an indoor pet could catch would be from mice, and there are no vaxxines for those diseases, because the risk is negligible. Vaxxines carry major risks for humans and animals, from the other chemicals included. Without post vaxxine testing, you don't know if the patient developed immunity from that vaxxine. Seriously, if any other industry was a shifty as those selling Vaxxines, they would be buried under the jail. I still maintain: vaxxines should be use cautiously and sparingly; based on our ability to treat and cure the disease, the debilitation from the disease, and the risk of infection. If individuals are going places and doing things that could put them in contact with a disease, yes, it would be prudent to get that vaxxination. However, it should be voluntary, with the exception of Rabies for outdoor animals.

    I know from experience that those Chinese herbs (can’t recall the name, two words starts with Y) stopped/slowed active bleeds in my dog several times while he was going through this horrible disease. Thousands in a Facebook HSA group can say the same. I hate that more natural remedies such as diet and supplements get so little funding for research when big money, big pharma has a say. It’s not “conspiracy theory” to question the motives of folks doing these studies. Human nature is not optional. Big pharma pays the big bucks so their studies get the best chance to actually get funded. They also have the money to crush anything that might hurt their market share. I would be very curious who conducted those studies that show these treatments to be ineffective. Were they designed to fail? Underpowered? Maybe they could help keep the spread at bay if given earlier in the disease process? Perhaps they could prevent it all together if given before HSA develops? If I ever get a Golden Retriever I guarantee that I’ll be researching long term treatment for preventative and side effects. Glad to see that the Morris project is collecting so much data! I’m hopeful that bares fruit. I’ve had three dogs die from cancer at 9YO, one may have been 10YO. One was diagnosed HSA, but I suspect that one other may have also had HSA and not leukemia.

    My boxer was dx with hemangiosarcoma after her spleen ruptured; that was August! I did not have money for surgery not chemotherapy! I have been feeding her natural food for past 4 years! Now that she has been dx I increased her treatment only to holistic natural medicine/foods! Now 4 months later she is having a great quality of life! You would not guess she has cancer! Being in the healthcare field and knowing my dog, she is having issues with upset stomach and herd! But I pray too! I know she is fighting as much as I am to keep her alive with a great quality of life for awhile left. She was 8 years 4 months old when dx! It was dx right after a horrific traumatic event in her life! I feel as with humans trauma brings out cancer!

    I just lost my 3rd golden retriever 2 weeks ago to this devastating disease. I am heartbroken. This is my second to die at only 7.5 years old. I started to think about what could possibly be contributing to this high incidence of hemangio in the dogs I have raised here in my home and then it occurred to me that we live in a golf course community and have walked out dogs on the golf course almost daily their entire lives. My Oakley would eat acorns, sticks, grass, etc. Knowing that there has already been published studies linking pesticides, fertilizer, and herbicides, especially roundup, to cancer I am suspecting that the exposure has contributed to my dogs’ deaths. I have surveyed my neighbors and many other families have lost dogs and cats to hemangio or other cancers at young ages as well. Are there currently studies looking at lawn chemical exposure as a risk factor for hemangiosarcoma? Coincidentally, I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia 4 years ago as well.

      We're so sorry you lost your beloved friend just a few weeks ago to this devastating disease. Our researchers are investigating the potential link between environmental toxins and cancer, and many other factors that could contribute to increased cancer rates. You can learn about our hemangiosarcoma studies toward the bottom of this page: www.morrisanimalfoundation.org/hemangiosarcoma-dogs This study is currently underway and will likely have larger implications: www.morrisanimalfoundation.org/article/toxin-exposure-and-cancer-in-pets We also launched our Hemangiosarcoma Initiative recently, which is a multiyear, multi-million dollar effort to move the needle in this area of medicine. I can't agree with @ 21:00 as there's just too much of an unpredictable range and degree with this type of cancer to say anything that could potentially be perceived as definitive. HSA could be lying dormant in any given 8 week old puppy yet will show it's first sign/symptom in each of growing puppy into dog individually in it's own time and own symptom. This cancer is just too complex and not researched enough! I pray for the continuance of research regarding this devastating and highly invasive cancer. I pray for so many reasons when it comes to this. Thank you!

    This is not a diagnosis or cancer to "mess" with as it's extremely aggressive and 100% life threatening no matter the youth or health of any dog. PLEASE let's all continue to research and communicate about this absolutely devastating and horrible cancer in hopes of some sort of light of a reason as to why and how and help for dogs any dogs that are diagnosed with this cancer. I am VERY aware about this cancer. I lost my radiant and beautiful 4 year old mastiff/lab mix due to this. It all started and showed as a tiny tiny little bump on the outside of her skin. I tried everything. She outlived over a year past her given time left to live. ❤ This is not a diagnosis or cancer to "mess" with as it's extremely aggressive and 100% life threatening no matter the youth or health of any dog.
